Severn's A.J. Francis Makes NFL Roster
The Maryland grad was picked up by the New England Patriots in time for this week's regular season opener.

A.J. Francis recently hopped on Twitter to remind his friends that he was once just "a fat backup QB for the Crofton Cardinals in 6th Grade"
That kid can now call himself an NFL player, after earning a spot on the active roster for the New England Patriots.
Francis, a Severn native and defensive lineman, was originally drafted by the Miami Dolphins. But after the Dolphins waived him with the intent of putting him on their practice squad, the Patriots scooped him up and placed him on their 53-man active roster. He'll be in uniform on Sunday as the Patriots face the Buffalo Bills.
"God is good man...I'm so blessed for this opportunity," Francis wrote on Twitter.
He later also thanked his friends and family for their support. (Francis proposed to his girlfriend immediately after being drafted last spring.)
"Thank you to everyone for the well-wishes... Entirely too many to thank individually but the love is more than appreciated," he wrote.
