Strong Showing for Wildcats at Wrestling Championships
Arundel finishes fourth in the county meet, as Tyler Goodwin and Logan Reece each won their weight classes. South River emerged as the county champion.
The Arundel High Wildcats finished fourth at the Anne Arundel County Wrestling Championships, as Tyler Goodwin and Logan Reece each won titles in their weight classes.
South River took the county title Saturday with 190.5 points, well ahead of second-place finisher Old Mill at 159 points. Broadneck finished third with 143.5 points, just ahead of Arundel’s 139.
The competition was held at Chesapeake High in Pasadena.

Goodwin, a junior, continued his unbeaten season with a victory at 132 pounds. He breezed through the bracket with early first round pins in every bout until the final, when he earned a 17-0 win over Old Mill’s Damien Sheldon.
Reece was also dominant, claiming a 15-0 victory in the 114-pound final over top-seeded Tyler Peck from Southern High.

Senior Steve Kidwell placed second at 137 pounds, perhaps the most competitive weight class. He had an easy time until the final, when he was pinned by Alex Rice of Chesapeake.
Evan Willis also had a strong showing for Arundel, placing second at 162 pounds, scoring an upset of second-seeded Tom Reid of Chesapeake before falling 7-5 to Patrick Owens of South River.
Arundel’s Chris Milhorn finished 6th at 147 pounds, Nick Asbury finished 5th at 154 pounds, Thomas Jovinelli placed 7th at 191 pounds and Luke Brownlee finished 6th at 287 pounds.
