Suspected Drug Dealer Arrested in Severn

Anne Arundel County Police officers doing surveillance spotted a Baltimore man in Severn who was wanted on warrants.

SEVERN, MD — An accused Baltimore drug dealer was arrested by Anne Arundel County Police who were conducting surveillance in the area of Meade Village Circle in Severn.

About 10 p.m. Friday, detectives saw Demonte Jones, 24, of Baltimore, who had an active arrest warrant for violation of probation. Detectives apprehended Jones without incident. During a search of Jones, detectives found he was carrying two loaded handguns. One handgun was a 9mm semi-automatic and one was a .22-caliber semi-automatic.

Jones also had 23.13 grams of marijuana and a digital scale with him, which police say he threw before he was arrested, but officers recovered. He was served on the two outstanding felony warrants for drug distribution.

Jones is charged with:

  • CDS distribution with a firearm
  • Possession of firearm during drug crime
  • Illegal possession of firearm
  • Handgun on person
  • CDS possession with intent to distribute
  • CDS possession of marijuana
  • CDS possession of paraphernalia
