Taxi Driver Robbed in Laurel By Passenger: Police
A taxi driver picked up a fare at the Greenbelt Metro Station and drove him to a Laurel hotel, where he was robbed, police say.
LAUREL, MD — Anne Arundel County Police have released security camera images of a man suspected of robbing a taxi driver who picked him at at the Greenbelt Metro Station and drove him to a Laurel hotel.
The armed robbery was reported Friday morning, but police on Tuesday shared the surveillance photos of the suspect in hopes that the public can identify the robber.
After the cabbie picked up the man in Greenbelt, he drove him to the Garden Inn at 3400 Ft. Meade Road in the Laurel area. The driver parked behind the hotel to drop off the passenger, who then took out a small silver handgun and demanded money and the victim’s cell phone, according to police.

The suspect is described as a black man who was wearing a black jacket at the time of the holdup.
About 10 minutes after the robbery, just before 11 a.m., the suspect was seen on surveillance footage in the surrounding area walking into the Walmart on Russett Green Road, authorities say.
