Tip Leads to Arrest in Maryland Live Casino Robbery

An anonymous tip has led police to a suspect in the robbery of a man while he sat in his vehicle at the Maryland Live casino, Anne Arundel County Police said.

A patron who left the Hanover casino was sitting in his car with a woman about 7 a.m. Friday when an armed man approached the vehicle and demanded money, police said. The couple was not hurt, and the robbery was filmed by security cameras.

The suspect fled the garage with an undisclosed amount of money in a black Nissan Altima, police said.

On Sunday, police received an anonymous call from a person who said authorities could find the vehicle that was used by the casino robbery at an undisclosed address in District Heights.

Detectives who went to the address saw a black vehicle that was backed into the driveway with a car cover partially covering it. While police watched the vehicle, it drove away from the residence. Officers stopped the Altima, along with a second vehicle that left the residence at the same time. A man inside the second vehicle was the person believed to be involved in the robbery. During questioning the suspect gave detectives the location of evidence from the robbery, including the pellet gun used during the incident.

Suspect Errick Maurice Lewis, 28, of 4119 Silver Park Terrace in Temple Hills, has been charged with: two counts of armed robbery, two counts of robbery, two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of theft along with a firearm used in a violent/ felony crime.

Lewis is being held in the Detention Center on $200,000 bond.
