TradeNet provides garden fresh food

TradeNet will continue its support of Anne Arundel County’s homeless students throughout the summer by providing garden fresh food. The TradeNet group will utilize member’s gardens as well as local farmer’s markets to provide fruits, vegetables, eggs, and milk to four families throughout the summer school break.

For families on fixed and limited incomes it is often difficult to obtain fresh foods and eat healthy. During the school year TradeNet is able to help students by providing food, prom tickets, gasoline, sports equipment, shoes, clothing, and basic toiletry items. For the past two summers students have been sponsored to attend faith based summer camps. The business group sought a way to further assist homeless students throughout the summer.

Through its close partnership with the Anne Arundel County schools, Pupil Personnel Worker for Arundel High School, it was learned that the homeless students and their families would greatly benefit from access to fresh and healthy food. For the ten weeks of summer break, food will be collected and distributed from the Gambrill’s General Store.
