Woman Dead After Tree Falls, Damages Home In Crofton: Officials
A woman was pronounced dead after a tree fell on a Crofton home, officials said. The collapse came on a day when wind gusts reached 40 mph.

CROFTON, MD — Officials announced that a woman was pronounced dead Tuesday after a tree fell on a Crofton home.
Authorities have not yet identified the woman, who was trapped on a windy day when gusts reached 40 mph.
First responders heard about the downed tree with one occupant unaccounted for around 8:58 p.m. Firefighters said they arrived in the 1500 block of Farlow Avenue and found the large tree that struck the back corner of the two-story, single-family house.

This caused extensive structural damage, especially to a second-floor bedroom. A press release said the woman was last accounted for in that room with the most damage.
Crews secured the home's utilities and reached the patient in about 15 minutes. The Special Operations Collapse Rescue Team extracted the woman in about one hour and 45 minutes. Medics pronounced her dead on the scene, the release said.

A team of 35 firefighters responded to the call.
The Anne Arundel County Fire Department thanked these stations for their assistance:
- Annapolis Fire Department
- Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport Fire and Rescue Department
- Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department
The release said these agencies also helped:
- Anne Arundel County Police Department
- Anne Arundel County Crisis Response team
- Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner
Officials did not estimate how much damage the tree caused. They also did not mention if anybody was displaced.
