2 Fires Break Out In Owings Mills And Reisterstown

Firefighters have responded to two fires in Owings Mills and Reisterstown in two days.

Two fires have broken out in Owings Mills and Reisterstown in the past two days, according to fire officials. One was at a townhouse, while another was in an apartment.

The fire at a townhouse in Owings Mills was discovered Tuesday night, according to the Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Company. Before 6 p.m., Owings Mills firefighters responded to a townhouse on Lower Gate Court and found it was filled with smoke.

After crews from Owings Mills discovered the source of the fire — a bathroom ventilation fan — they said that they removed the device from the ceiling.

Then they checked to ensure the flames had not spread to the attic, and they ventilated the area with portable fans. Firefighters from Garrison and Owings Mills responded to the incident.

The fire in Owings Mills came the evening after firefighters in Reisterstown handled a fire call there.

At 7 p.m. on Monday, the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company said it received reports of an apartment fire off Brookebury Drive.

Crews found a small kitchen fire that was mainly around the stove area, officials said.

Once they had snuffed out the blaze and ventilated the apartment, firefighters said they left the scene after about 45 minutes.
