Dayquis Moore is also charged with second-degree assault in a dispute in which a 22-month-old was grazed by a bullet after a gun went off.

WINDSOR MILL, MD – A 21-year-old Baltimore man remains in custody after being charged with attempted murder, first degree assault and various other charges after police say he was involved a domestic assault that injured a 22-month-old girl Sunday night.

Dayquis Korleone Moore is being held in the Baltimore County Detention Center after a judge denied bail during a hearing on Monday. According to the Harford County Sheriff’s Department, Moore will have a bail review hearing on Tuesday.

The incident, which took place shortly after 7 p.m. in the 3500 block of Derby Shire Circle, appears to have stemmed by a domestic incident between the baby's mother and Moore during which he assaulted the girl's mother, the Baltimore County Sheriff's Department said.

CBS 13 reported Monday that Moore is the father of an unborn child of his ex-girlfriend, who the girl’s grandmother told the television station is five months pregnant. When the couple began to argue, the incident turned violent, the woman told the television station.

According to police, that's when another man, who the baby’s grandmother identified as her son, attempted to intervene in the altercation, Moore produced a handgun.

“He was trying to get (Moore) off of his sister because, you know, she’s five months pregnant,” the woman, identified by CBS 13 as Nicole Smith, said.

A struggle for the gun took place and the male victim was struck with the gun, causing an injury to the man's upper chest. Police say that the gun discharged and that the infant was grazed by the bullet, which caused a laceration. The girl was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to survive. Smith told CBS 13 that the baby received stitches but that the pregnant victim remains in the hospital for treatment.

Moore left the gun at the scene and fled but was apprehended by police following a brief foot chase.
