BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD —A 22-month old girl was injured in an incident Sunday night that Baltimore County detectives are investigating as a shooting, police said Monday.
The incident, which took place shortly after 7 p.m. in the 3500 block of Derby Shire Circle, appears to have stemmed by a domestic incident between the girl’s mother and ex-boyfriend during which he assaulted the girl’s mother, the Baltimore County Sheriff’s Department said.
According to police, when another man attempted to intervene in the altercation, the suspect produced a handgun. A struggle for the gun took place and the male victim was struck with the gun, causing an injury to the man's upper chest.
