Severe Thunderstorm Warning Expires After Hail, Strong Winds

Hail and strong winds were reported in parts of Maryland during the severe thunderstorm Friday evening, authorities said.

A severe thunderstorm warning calling for possible hail and 60 mph winds has expired Friday evening. Initially, the National Weather Service issued the warning for Baltimore, Carroll and Harford counties.

The warning was in effect until 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, and officials called for its expiration shortly before that time.

"The severe thunderstorm which prompted the warning has moved out of the warned area," the National Weather Service advised before 5:30 p.m.

During a severe thunderstorm warning period, people should go inside to stay safe from wind and lightning. Do not drive underneath wooded areas until the threat has passed, as trees and branches may fall. Roads may become blocked by downed trees, and localized power outages are possible, according to the warning.
