Aeropostale Latest Closure at Owings Mills Mall

Another retailer has been added to the tally of closed storefronts in the Owings Mills Mall.

Aeropostale shut its doors Tuesday, according to Sprint store manager Clarence Jefferson, who works in the space directly across from the clothing store.

"We'll definitely miss them," Jefferson said. "They definitely added life to the mall."

Jefferson and the management at Aeropostale often helped cross-promote each other's stores, setting out flyers when one or the other was having a sale or promotion, he said.

The Owings Mills Mall has been battling the economy and competitors like the Towson Town Center Mall for several years. Only a couple dozen retailers remain in the mall that has room for much more. A Facebook page called "Owings Mills Mall is DEAD!" has nearly 8,000 fans.

Charles Crerand, the mall's senior general manager, could not be immediately reached for comment.
