Although they were dispatched to a reported cardiac arrest, officers said they found a baby with multiple injuries to her upper body. She was taken to Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased, police said.
During the year between the baby's death and the arrest, officials said homicide detectives were on the case. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide, finding ongoing child abuse had been present in the household.
