Amazon Hiring Event In Owings Mills Slated For September

OWINGS MILLS, MD — Amazon is planning eight hiring events in September, including one in Owings Mills. Those who like the instant gratification Amazon provides through its delivery service will find it has a similar hiring style.

“Amazon is hiring on-the-spot," Will Anderson, director of the Baltimore County Department of Economic and Workforce Development, said in a statement. "If you are looking for a job and are qualified, you could walk out of an Amazon hiring event with a job offer."

Warehouse associates are needed for full and part-time positions. The job entails picking, receiving, packing and stowing packages. Jobs will be at the new Amazon Fulfillment Center in Sparrows Point.

People must apply online first to receive an invitation to the hiring events.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent to qualify for a job as an Amazon fulfillment associate.

There will be eight Amazon hiring events in Baltimore County in the following areas:

• Dundalk – Sept. 5
• Hunt Valley — Sept. 7
• Sparrows Point — Sept. 12
• Essex — Sept. 13
• Owings Mills — Sept. 17
• Sparrows Point — Sept. 21
• Essex — Sept. 26
• Dundalk — Sept. 28

The new fulfillment center at Tradepoint Atlantic in Sparrows Point will create more than 1,500 full-time jobs, according to Baltimore County officials.

The $225 million facility will be a hub for picking, packing and shipping items like electronics, housewares and toys.

The Amazon hiring event in Owings Mills will be Sept. 17 at the CCBC extension campus in the Metro Centre.

“We want to put a big Amazon smile on a lot of faces. There’s nothing like knowing you just got a new job,” Baltimore County Executive Don Mohler said in a statement.
