Armed Robbery Of China Wok Put Schools On Alert: Police

BREAKING: Two Owings Mills schools were on alert Tuesday because of an armed robbery suspect on the loose, police reported.

OWINGS MILLS, MD -- There is a heavy police presence in part of Owings Mills Tuesday afternoon due to an armed robbery at China Wok, according to the Baltimore County Police Department. Authorities said the suspect remained at large as of 2 p.m.

New Town Elementary School and New Town High School were both placed on alert status, which had been lifted by 2 p.m., officials said. During "alert status," Baltimore County Public Schools protocol calls for locking doors from the inside and posting staff at the front of the building to check identification.

The robbery occurred at China Wok in the 9700 block of Groffs Mill Drive, police said. Nobody was injured, and officials advised that heavy police presence would continue in the area.
