Neighbor Charged in Windsor Mill Homicide: Baltimore County Police

The two reportedly had a dispute after a cookout on Easter.

A Windsor Mill man has been charged in the shooting death of his neighbor over the weekend, the Baltimore County Police Department reported.

Brandon Jerome Stanfield, 30, of the unit block of Rocky Brook Court, was charged with first-degree murder on Tuesday.

Police said Stanfield shot Michael Jefferson Jr., 39, after an argument in Jefferson's home.

Stanfield had been hosting a cookout earlier in the day and said he felt "disrespected" when Jefferson left before the host's family arrived, The Baltimore Sun reported. According to the newspaper, the accused went over to Jefferson's house with a 0.40-caliber Glock and when the man said he didn't want guns in his home, Stanfield shot him and Jefferson ran toward the door.

Officials found Jefferson with multiple gunshot wounds in the front doorway of his home upon responding to a report of shots fired in the unit block of Rocky Brook Court at 11:55 p.m. Sunday, police said.

There were no signs of forced entry, and Jefferson was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report from police.

A witness saw the scene unfold and was able to escape through the basement and a back door, The Baltimore Sun reported.

Stanfield was being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center Tuesday without bail, according to The Baltimore Sun. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 16 in Baltimore County District Court.
