Bernard Pierce Charged with DUI, Speeding: Police

Baltimore Ravens running back was arrested Wednesday morning, Baltimore County police report.

Police said Baltimore Ravens running back Bernard Pierce, 23, was arrested for driving under the influence in Towson Wednesday morning.

Before 2 a.m., Pierce was driving a Ford Mustang on Dulaney Valley Road near Interstate 695 when he was pulled over for speeding, the Baltimore County Police Department reported.

Pierce had been traveling 55 mph in an area where the speed limit was 30 mph, and after he failed field sobriety tests, was taken to the Towson Precinct for processing, according to the report.

Police said Pierce was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, exceeding the posted speed limit and driving in excess of a reasonable and prudent speed

“We are aware of the situation...” a spokesman for the Ravens said in a statement. “We take these matters seriously.”

The team reports it has cut two other players faced with legal controversy this off-season.

Cornerback Victor Hampton was taken off the roster March 2, the day after he was charged with DWI in North Carolina, the team said in a statement.

The Ravens terminated the contract of nose tackle Terrence Cody the day he was indicted on animal cruelty charges in January.
