15-Acre Brush Fire Extinguished In Randallstown: Baltimore County Fire

Firefighters from several jurisdictions worked to contain a blaze Thursday near homes in Baltimore County.

RANDALLSTOWN, MD — Firefighters from multiple jurisdictions battled a brush fire for six hours Thursday in Randallstown, according to Baltimore County emergency officials.

Crews were dispatched to the blaze on Powells Run Road at 1:11 p.m., according to public safety officials.

It was originally reported as 6 acres and due to the dry and windy conditions, the flames rapidly spread.

As the blaze fanned out across 15 acres, crews from Baltimore, Carroll and Howard counties converged to protect homes in the area.

More than 40 firefighters responded to help control the fire on foot and on brush trucks, officials said.

Authorities said the fire was mostly under control after 6:30 p.m., with firefighters putting out hot spots.

At 7:05 p.m., the fire was reportedly out.

During the firefight, authorities advised avoiding Liberty Road between Powells Run Road at Deer Park Road as well as Marriottsville Road between Hernwood Road and the Howard County line.

ORIGINAL REPORT — Firefighters from multiple jurisdictions are helping to battle a two-alarm brush fire in Randallstown Thursday, according to fire officials, who advised avoiding Liberty Road. Officials said that firefighting efforts were expected to continue into the evening.

The blaze fanned out across 15 acres, and crews from Baltimore, Carroll and Howard counties were working to protect homes in the area. More than 40 firefighters were at the scene in brush trucks and on foot, officials said around 5 p.m.

Firefighters were initially dispatched to the blaze on Powells Run Road at 1:11 p.m., according to public safety officials. Due to the dry and windy conditions, the flames rapidly spread.

Authorities advised avoiding Liberty Road between Powells Run Road at Deer Park Road as well as Marriottsville Road between Hernwood Road and the Howard County line.

Crews were expected to be working into the late night hours, officials reported.

After 6:30 p.m., authorities said the fire was mostly under control and firefighters were putting out hot spots.
