Black Girls Dive Receives $5K For STEM
The Society for Science & the Public has given a $5,000 grant to an Owings Mills-based organization.

OWINGS MILLS, MD - From The Society for Science & The Public: Today, the Society for Science & The Public is excited to announce we are awarding a $5,000 STEM Action Grant to Black Girls Dive Foundation that empowers young underrepresented girls in marine STEM fields. The grant will help to fund additional remotely operated vehicles, underwater cameras and sensors and other equipment, inspiring even more students to pursue STEM!
The STEM Action Grant Program aims to fund innovative organizations that support community based STEM projects with the goal of sparking a life-long interest in STEM.
“We are grateful for the support received from The Society for Science and The Public," said Dr. Nevada Winrow, founder of Black Girls Dive Foundation. "The support received from this STEM Action grant will be instrumental in providing a quality aquatics-based STEM program for girls who are historically underrepresented in STEM."
