MPT to Broadcast The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter 55th Emmy® Awards

On-air celebrities and behind-the-scenes work at commercial and public stations in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia to be recognized in June 17 telecast

OWINGS MILLS, MD – The National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presentation of the 55th Emmy® Awards will air on Maryland Public Television on Monday, June 17 at 8 p.m. on MPT2, the station’s secondary channel. The two-hour broadcast represents the first time that the regional Emmys have been carried on MPT.

 

The Emmy ceremony is hosted by local television personalities including radio/TV talk show host Mario Armstrong, WUSA 9 sports anchor Kristen Berset, Maryland Public Television’s Rhea Feikin, WBFF meteorologist Jonathan Myers, and lifestyle program host Paul Wharton. Also on hand as a special presenter will be Bob Ryan, newly retired Washington ABC affiliate meteorologist.

The awards recognize 2012 work in some 93 categories of production and television crafts.  The competition was open to any television station, company, production house, or independent producer in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia.  All told, 774 entries were submitted.

The chapter’s Emmy® Awards gala will take place on June 15 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront hotel.  In addition to the two-hour telecast of that event on Monday, June 17 on MPT, the awards will be re-broadcast on MPT-HD, the station’s main channel, on Wednesday, June 19 at midnight and again at 4 a.m.
