Orioles Trade Mike Gonzalez For A Player To Be Named

After a rough start to his Orioles career Mike Gonzalez has been spectacular for the Orioles posting a 1.90 ERA since June 20.

The Baltimore Orioles have traded left-handed relief pitcher Mike Gonzalez to the Texas Rangers for a player to be named later.

For most of his career with the Orioles, Gonzalez has been more of a headache than heโ€™s worth but his recent performance has boomed his stock and the contending Texas Rangers, which traded for Koji Uehara one month ago, felt the need to acquire him as they chance a World Series.

Gonzalez was slated to be a free agent at the end of this season so a trade in any manner made sense for a team near the very bottom of the Major League Baseball standings.

But recently Gonzalez has been absolutely phenomenal.ย  The southpaw has not allowed a single run single July 18 when he surrendered three to the hot-hitting Boston Red Sox and before that he allowed only two runs since June 20.
