Senior Erin Discordia Receives Prestigious Art Award

Erin Discordia, a senior at Owings Mills High, has received a National Art Education Association Rising Star Award.

Erin Discordia, a senior at Owings Mills High, has received a National Art Education Association Rising Star Award. The award is for an excellent art student who aspires to be an art educator. Her still life painting, โ€œApples and Wineโ€, was part of her nominating packet.ย ย  Discordia was one of two students in the country to receive this honor.

According to Mary Elizabeth Dickman, an art teacher at OMHS, Discordia is the most dedicated senior artist she has ever taught.ย ย  Dickman describes Discordia as an โ€œincredible artistโ€ and a โ€œperfectionist through and through.โ€

Discordia received the award on Monday, March 18thย from Linda Popp, the head of the Art Department for Baltimore County. Diane Garbarino, Principal of Owings Mills High School, was also present at the ceremony.
