Why Obama Will Get a Second Term
Why I believe that Obama will get a second term and I briefly look at tonight's GOP debate.
The 2012 Presidential election is only a mere 512 days away and all of the Republicans are off making a great case for Obama's second term. They're really sticking it to him about how he has been slowing fixing the broken economy, which he inherited from them just a few years ago. They are making great points about how his health care plan (which hasn't even really gone into effect yet) is devastating the economy more than three wars and a dependance on foreign products.
Now, I cannot say that I completely agree with all of the decisions and stances that this president has made so far. However, I do believe that after observing him and the presidents before him, he is well on his way to second term so far. At the very least, there have not been any significant reasons to deny it to him.
I think what really still really sells me on him is the fact that unlike his predecessor (or any of the Republicans) he actually seems presidential. What I mean by that is since he has entered the public eye he has acted with great poise and he actually speaks as if he is educated on the subjects he is discussing.

The most unfortunate part about President Obama's situation is that most of the issues he has immediately encountered have been entirely out of his control. Aside from inheriting unfavorable wars and a broken economy, he has had to deal with a massive oil spill, the Arab spring, and multiple natural disasters.
Each time a new issue arises, he takes a moment to evaluate the situation and appears to make an informed decision about what to do instead of rushing to make a public statement, which, honestly, for a short time, is something that I had stopped thinking was possible.

Furthermore, I don't know about you but I actually like having a president who can truly represent Americans in domestic and foreign affairs.
It's true that he is not the most liberal president that we could have hoped for out of the Democratic party but he certainly seems to stick to his convictions. In a world of politicians changing stances every chance they get, it certainly is admirable and his stances are pretty reasonable.
Even though I do disagree with some of decisions thus far, I can say this without any doubt, I sure am glad he is representing my country as president rather than John McCain.
Since I willingly acknowledge that I typically lean to the left, I sat down to watch the GOP Presidential Debate on CNN. As foolish it that sounds. I plan to make an informed decision about my vote for president, which is currently not set on any one person.
I sat down and listened for the candidates to could speak about actual solutions and how to fix our country's problems. Instead what I heard was a rather insulting to me, the modern American viewer, who would like to hear substance in a debate.
The topics ranged from the Middle East to civil rights to immigration. In each discussion, they would would all find a way to talk about how Obama โdoesn't take a stand on anythingโ and how his actions are continuing to destroy the economy.
Some moments of the debate were truly horrifying for me to listen to. For example, Herman Cain discussing his blatantly offensive views against Muslim-Americans and other religions.
The only original policy discussion that I heard actually came from Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul. Granted, some of it was slightly off the wall, but they at least made attempts at original thoughts and didn't strive to say whatever got the most applause from previous answers.
If these are the best candidates that the Republicans can put forward then I just don't see how they can make a serious impact in this political climate.
I realize that it truly is too early to rule out any candidate or determine who will win the next election but as of right now I just do not see anyone who can make a strong enough case for me to vote for anyone aside from our current commander-in-chief.
What do you think? Is there a candidate out there who has caught your attention? Tell me.
