Wounded War Vet & Service Dog To Be Honored by Baltimore Humane Society - Tickets Still Available

Tickets are still available for Baltimore Humane Society's Black Tie & Tails Gala honoring a wounded war veteran and his service dog this Saturday, March 23rd.

Decorated American veteran Captain Luis Carlos Montalvan and his service dog, Tuesday, will be the honorees at Baltimore Humane Societyโ€™s Black Tie & Tails Gala on Saturday, March 23rd.ย  The Honoree, Captain Luis Carlos Montalvan, is the best-selling NY Times author of Until Tuesday; A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him.ย  He and Tuesday are also the subjects of the upcoming Disney movie, Until Tuesday.ย  Captain Montalvan has become a well-known advocate for the use of service dogs for war veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and people with disabilities.ย

The other featured speaker will be Lieutenant Colonel, Jeffery Camp, Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of Paws for Purple Hearts, a veterans helping veterans organization that originated under Walter Reed National Military Center.ย  The first program of its kind, it helps heal returning combat veterans by teaching those with psychological scars, including PTSD, to train service dogs for fellow wounded vets.

Baltimore Humane Society supports Captain Montalavanโ€™s ย and Paws for Purple Heartsโ€™ work and is also looking to expand its relationship with groups who train shelter dogs to be service dogs for veterans.ย  The non-profit animal shelter believes it is an effective way to help โ€œsave the livesโ€ of two underserved populations.
