Brian Thomas Hughes, 65, of Hampstead

On Dec. 28, 2015, Brian Thomas Hughes went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with AML Leukemia. Brian was the beloved husband of Carol Scott Hughes and dear brother-in-law of Jerry Donald and Rhonda (Mitchell) Scott. The son of the late Ben and Claire (Schoph) Hughes, he is also survived by his son Brian K. Hughes, grandchildren Abigail Hughes and Joshua Hughes, his sister Denise Litzau-Meloan and niece Megan Litzau-Kanal.

Born on Nov. 25, 1950, Brian attended Baltimore County parochial and public schools. He entered the United States Army soon after graduation from Woodlawn High School and was a Vietnam War combat veteran. He worked for 30 years as Commercial Project Manager for C&P Telephone Company, now Verizon, and most recently for Triad Mechanical. In recent years, his life focus centered on his Christian faith and helping young men to recover from alcohol and drug addiction.

The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016 at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, where a funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, with his pastor the Rev. Todd Hare officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
