Broken Water Main Closes Stretch Of Liberty Road

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD -- A broken water main on Liberty Road was reported Thursday afternoon, officials say. Part of the road was closed, and the repair may take up to 24 hours, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.

The stretch of westbound Liberty Road that is closed runs from Interstate 695 to Washington Avenue. It is approximately 0.2 mile. The center lane is getting through, highway officials reported.

Drivers should avoid the area, particularly since temperatures are expected to drop overnight, the State Highway Administration advised.

With a broken water main, there will likely be an icy road. The National Weather Service is forecasting a high of 31 degrees on Friday.
