Owings Mills Chef Wins First Place in Farm to Chef Maryland Competition
Chef Harding of The Classic Catering People received the first place honor in the "People's Choice" category.
In the sixth annual Farm to Chef Maryland competition, which was held Oct. 5 at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, Chef Therese Harding of Owings Mills-based company The Classic Catering People received a first place award for her Buttermilk Dipped Springfield Farm Fried Chicken and Applewood Smoked Bacon Waffle with Bourbon Aged Maple Syrup, Maple Glitter and Farmhouse Green Tomato Pickles in the “People’s Choice” category. Farm to Chef Maryland is a culinary competition during which 30 talented Maryland chefs are paired with local farms and challenged to create innovative culinary dishes that showcase local ingredients. Proceeds from Farm to Chef benefit Days of Taste, a national interactive program that encourages children to appreciate the taste and nutrition of fresh, local food. For the competition, Chef Harding teamed up with Springfield Farm of Sparks to create her dish.
