Christmas Tree Recycling in Owings Mills, Reisterstown

Owings Mills and Reisterstown residents, you may not want to take that tree down just yet.

Christmas tree recycling in Baltimore County starts Monday, Jan. 12, and will span a two-week period, according to a statement from Baltimore County government. Trees do not need to be put out on a trash or recycling day.

Those who want their trees collected must put them out by Saturday, Jan. 17, at the latest.

There are three rules for setting out Christmas trees, the statement said:

• Take off all lights, decorations and tree stands. Don’t set bags out; all that will be collected is the tree.
• Put out live trees only—artificial trees will not be accepted.
• Set the tree out by the curb or street in front of your residence; collections will not be taking place in alleys.

Residents in apartment complexes should check with management about how to dispose of trees there.

Once trash and recycling trucks collect Christmas trees in Baltimore County, they take them to a county facility where they will be turned into mulch.

Can’t wait to get rid of your tree? Residents can drop off the trees themselves starting Dec. 26 at one of Baltimore County’s three drop-off locations.
