The Classic Catering People Awarded at Farm to Chef Maryland

Farm to Chef is a culinary competition that pairs local farmers with the Baltimore region's most talented chefs to create original dishes

On Sept. 24, The Classic Catering People was awarded both Judge’s and People’s Choice Awards in the Savory Dish category at the ninth annual Farm to Chef Maryland, which is a culinary competition that pairs local farmers with the Baltimore region’s most talented chefs to create original dishes that highlight the region’s wide abundance of local, fresh ingredients. The Classic Catering People teamed up with Cherry Glen Goat Cheese Company of Boyds, Md., to create the award-winning goat cheese soufflé with black mission fig, maple bacon stick, micro herb salad and lemon confit.

Winners were selected by an esteemed panel of judges that included owners of local restaurants and breweries, food bloggers and award winning chefs, who tasted all of the culinary creations and chose the most flavorful and creative dishes in four categories: sweet, savory, vegetarian and best beverage. There was also a People’s Choice, where the hundreds of event attendees voted and awarded winners for best sweet, savory and vegetarian dishes and best beverage.

Farm to Chef benefits TasteWise Kids and the Days of Taste program, where elementary students learn about taste, fresh food and how food travels from farm to table through hands-on programming with chefs, farmers, and other food professionals. The Classic Catering People has an ongoing partnership with TasteWise Kids and the organization's Days of Taste program.
