Code Orange Air Quality Alert Issued For 13 Maryland Counties

Weather officials have issued an air quality alert, cautioning certain people to avoid exercising outside: BREAKING.

An air quality alert has been issued for much of Maryland on Thursday, June 22. The alert applies to Baltimore and D.C. metro areas as well as the Eastern Shore and Maryland beaches.

When the air quality reaches "code orange," it means pollution concentrations may be unhealthy for sensitive groups: children, older adults and those with respiratory conditions.

To minimize the effects of the air pollution, people should avoid outdoor exercise and strenuous activity.
