Cousins Charged With Attempted Murder In Owings Mills Holdup

Police said two men who are cousins have been charged in a pair of armed robberies in Owings Mills.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — Two men have been charged with attempted murder and other offenses in connection with a shooting that happened Monday, Sept. 30. Police said the crime happened during an armed robbery, one of two that occurred in succession.

Two men who are cousins have been charged: Brandon Leon Nyle Jackson, 23, of the 3300 block of Ripple Road in Windsor Mill, and Phillip Lermell Jackson, 23, of the 3700 block of Boarman Avenue in Baltimore, are charged with attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of armed robbery and using a firearm in a felony crime.

Investigators said the cousins followed their victim — a 35-year-old man — to Melissa Court in Owings Mills, where Brandon Jackson pistol-whipped and shot him. The assault occurred before 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30.

Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of an injury not believed to be life-threatening.

Brandon Jackson took a cell phone and cash from the victim in the robbery, officials allege.

When a woman heard the gunshot and came out of her home, police said Brandon Jackson pointed his gun at her as well and took her cell phone.

Phillip Jackson was the getaway driver after they left the scene of the holdups, according to officials.

Both Jacksons are being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

A preliminary hearing in the case is slated for Nov. 1 in Baltimore County District Court.
