Deadly Crash Near Owings Mills Elementary: Second Driver Sought

Police said a man died after being hit by two vehicles on Reisterstown Road near Owings Mills Elementary, and one driver left the scene.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — A man was killed crossing the street in front of Owings Mills Elementary School over the weekend, and police said he was hit by two vehicles. One of the drivers remained at the scene, authorities reported, and now officials are asking the second driver to come forward.

Daveyon Jakim Barnes, 21, of the unit block of Straw Hat Road, was hit while he was trying to cross Reisterstown Road at 11:10 p.m. on Friday, June 7, police said.

A Kia Forte headed south on Reisterstown Road hit Barnes, who was hit by a second vehicle, which officials said was a lighter colored sedan.

Barnes was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where police said he died before 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 8.

Anyone who may have information about the second vehicle in the deadly crash is asked to call the Baltimore County Crash Investigation Team at 410-307-2020. Callers may remain anonymous.
