Disabled Vehicle Slowed Traffic on I-695

An incident near the Reisterstown Road exit on Interstate 695 caused backups Friday.

Transportation officials said a disabled vehicle slowed traffic on the outer loop of I-695 past the exit for Reisterstown Road/MD 140.

The single-vehicle incident was reported before 3:15 p.m., according to the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team (CHART).

The right lane and shoulder were closed until approximately 3:35 p.m., CHART reported, causing backups. By 3:40 p.m., all lanes had reopened and traffic was flowing normally in the area.

Police have asked citizens to stay off the roads if possible ahead of the blizzard expected to hit Maryland, stating that snow will fall quickly once it starts.

A man on Reisterstown’s Main Street reported to WBAL that it had been flurrying there since approximately 2:25 p.m. on Friday.
