Dr. Alfred Karl Wiedmann, 88, of Mount Washington

On Sept. 30, Dr. Alfred Karl Wiedmann of Mount Washington passed away at his home after a brief illness. He was born in Bielefeld, Germany, and came to America in 1954 to practice medicine. He practiced Orthopedics for more than 50 years in Baltimore. In addition to his work, he enjoyed gardening, traveling and painting.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Jeannette Shriver Jones; four daughters: Jeannette S. McGowan of Baltimore, Maria M. and Ron Schaffer of Winterset, Iowa, Elisabeth A. Winter, Ursula M. and William Goldman of Baltimore; two sons, Alfred K. Wiedmann, Jr. of Fort Collins, Colo., and Peter K. Wiedmann of Baltimore; 15 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Family and friends may call at the home from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Mount Washington at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3.
