Expansion, Improvements to Owings Mills Roadways on Council Agenda
The Baltimore County Council is set to review two items on its agenda that regard two major local roadways in Owings Mills--Owings Mills Boulevard and the Painters Mill bridge.

The county's likely acquisition of two small parcels of landΒ will bring two multi-million dollar road projects in Owings Mills closer to fruition.Β
The county's office of budget and finance is asking the Baltimore County Council to approve two contracts Monday night to acquire a total of 0.16 acres, one parcel near the intersection of Owings Mills Boulevard and Lyons Mill Road and one near the Painters Mill bridge, according to the council's agenda.Β
For $30,830, the county would purchase 0.12 acres located on the southeast side of Painters Mill Road from Painters Mill Enterprises for a project to improve the Painters Mill bridge by widening highway I-795. The project's total costs are estimated to be about $2.8 million, according to the document.Β

"The Office expects to advertise for construction in June 2011, begin construction in October 2011, and complete the project by March 2012," the document states.
A second acquisition is for an ongoing Owings Mills roadway project with a total estimated cost of about $14.9 million. For $5,942, the county would purchase 0.04 acres located at the southwest corner of Lyons Mills Road and Winfield from Black Horse Joint Venture as a part of the construction to widen Owings Mills Boulevard, which is Β

That project began in February 2010 and will be completed in July 2012, according to the agenda.
The Painters Mill bridge acquisition is the only one of four that require Council approval in order for the project to continue. The acquisition to widen Owings Mills Boulevard would be the third of six that require approval, with a total of nine acquisitions needed, according to the agenda.Β
