Exploring Jewish Music from the European Shtetl to the Big Apple

Exploring Jewish Music from the European Shtetl to the Big Apple

Thursday, November 6 and 20, 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm

Klezmer, which literally means “tool of song” in Hebrew, is the secular folk music of the Jews of Central and Eastern Europe. This course will trace the history and evolution of this music, from the Old World to the New, up until the present day and the modern klezmer revival. Live demonstrations from the instructor and recorded music will make these lectures as exciting as the music itself. Led by Seth Kibel. www.SethKibel.com. Beth Israel Congregation, 3706 Crondall Lane, Owings Mills, MD 21117, 410-654-0800, www.bethisrael-om.org. RSVP: Ann Friedman, afriedman@bethisrael-om.org
