Farmers' Market Opens This Sunday

What was once uncertain is now fact: the Owings Mills Farmers' Market will kick off in the JCC parking lot this weekend.

Ready for some locally grown produce, an assortment of organic coffees, Amish donuts and more? You're in luck, because the kicks off this Sunday. 

was unclear in the months leading up to this weekend, when its founders were unsuccessful in finding what they hoped would be a bigger, more trafficked venue. Then Kim Hess of Hess Produce came along.

As new market manager, Hess said she understood why founders Paul Saval, Brian Sandeross and manager Ryan Couto would pass up a last-minute reorganization effort. But some vendors are more than happy to continue, she said.

"Just because it didn't meet (their) vision doesn't mean that we don't like it," she said in May. "Now you're eliminating everyone else's vision. Without the vendors there is no market." 

The trio has provided help during the transition, Hess said.

The market will run each Sunday until Oct. 30 at its original location at the . Hours have been adjusted to open from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
