BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A former Baltimore Ravens player has been charged with assault in a case of domestic violence, according to police. The day of the incident, the Ravens released the defensive end from the team.

Ufomba Kamalu, 27, of the Caerlon Court in Pikesville, has been charged with second-degree assault, court records show.

The charge stems from a call about a domestic assault in the 1700 block of Reisterstown Road, a little less than 2 miles from Kamalu's house, after 10 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

The victim had suffered a visible injury, according to the Baltimore County Police Department. Investigators said they determined Kamalu had been arguing with the woman when the dispute escalated into a physical fight.

Since he was not there when the officer filed the charges, police said Kamalu was arrested on a warrant for the assault charge Thursday morning. He was released from custody Thursday after posting $20,000 bond, police said.
