Grades, Goals Make Eyler Stevenson's First Academic All-American

Mustangs soccer star Stephanie Eyler was named a third team Academic All American this week.

She's not lacing up her spikes anymore, but forward Stephanie Eyler's impressive year continued this week nonetheless, as the senior was named a third team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The award is the first such honor for a Mustang in any sport, a university statement said.

The business administration major owns a 3.97 grade point average, and earlier this season became the Capital Athletic Conference's all-time , the statement said.

Eyler also owns the Stevenson record for goals, having netted 63 in her career -- 15 of the game-winning variety. The senior led the team with 13 goals and 30 points in 2011.

To be nominated as an Academic All-American, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA.
