Road Rage Suspect Charged In Baltimore County

Police said that a Baltimore County man has been charged in an I-695 road rage incident that involved a semiautomatic handgun.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Police made an arrest in a road rage incident from earlier this month that occurred on Interstate 695. A Woodlawn man has been charged, officials reported on Wednesday.

Brandon Jones, 31, was identified as the suspect in an incident from Friday, Dec. 15, police said.

Before 7 a.m. on that day, the victim called 911 to report that a man nearly caused a crash by merging in front of him on the ramp from Security Boulevard to the outer loop of I-695, then pointed a black semiautomatic gun at him before speeding away. Police said the victim was driving a 2006 red Subaru Forester.

Further investigation led to Jones, who was charged Wednesday afternoon with first and second-degree assault and having a handgun in his vehicle, court records show.

Jones was booked at the Baltimore County Detention Center Wednesday afternoon and released, according to officials.

A relative of Jones said that he does not own a gun even though he works as private security for his employer, whose children he was driving to school in his employer's vehicle at the time of the altercation, according to WBAL. Police reportedly did not provide information about whether a gun was found.

Charging documents obtained by the TV station say that the drivers "exchanged middle fingers" upon merging on Security Boulevard at I-695.

Anyone with information about the case may call Trooper Walsh at the Golden Ring Barrack at 410-780-2700. Tipsters may remain confidential.
