The Harbour School presents Harbour’s Hugs for Heroes 2015. This event is the major fundraiser for the special needs school each year. This year’s auction and dinner will be held at Linwoods restaurant in Owings Mills. Come hungry and get ready to bid on exciting trips to the Caribbean, Disney World, Las Vegas, beaches and more! If you are looking for a special piece of jewelry, you will find it here as well. Treat your friends and family to a fun, catered backyard movie party, bid on a lavish party basket or sporting event tickets. Whatever you are looking for, you will find it at The Harbour School’s silent and live auction.
The focus will be to raise money for flexible classroom spaces. The school has seen tremendous growth in the last few years and in an effort to continue to deliver an exceptional education and better serve their ever-growing special needs population, they are looking to provide more private workspaces for students and educators. The goal will be to include purchasing laptop computers for students and teachers so they may work outside of the classroom when necessary. Additionally, the related services such as speech and language pathology, clinical social work (including small groups) need working spaces in which to hold their group sessions.

This year’s auction will honor current parents at the school, Kerry and Bob Fairweather. Their daughter attends school at the Annapolis campus where the Fairweather’s have donated countless hours of volunteer time. They also started our Mids for Kids program, where midshipmen volunteer their time to work with Harbour students during the school day. It has been a wonderful addition to the school and the students look forward to working with their mids!
The Harbour School is a nonpublic school serving students ages 6-21. Students at the school have been diagnosed as having learning disabilities, high functioning autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, other health impaired (primarily ADHD) and multi-disabled. The school serves private and publicly funded students from 16 school districts including the District of Columbia.
