Holiday Season Starts Early at "Christmas on Main Street"
The Reisterstown United Methodist Church event provides a wide array of music and a welcomed Christmas-themed setting.

With Thanksgiving in the rearview mirror and individuals rapidly getting the urge to take pleasure in the holiday spirit, Reisterstown United Methodist Church is providing a means for those folks to scratch that itch.
The church will present its second annual Saturday, Dec. 10, and event organizers say this year’s performance will be even bigger than last year.
“They will be blown completely out of their chairs,” Maryland Sings director Bill Myers said of the over 200 people expected to fill out the church.

“This is so high powered and so fantastic—and it's only $10. We’re starting off their holiday season with very, very talented ensembles. It should put them in the mood for Christmas and the holiday season and we will also give them a reason to celebrate. We’re celebrating Christmas early.”
Maryland Sings will be joined by an impressive variety of groups. Coram Deo Men’s Ensemble, The Chancel Singers and Genesis One return from last year’s event and organizers have added The Old Line Statesmen Barbershop Chorus (Carroll County) and The Johnson Male Chorus (Anne Arundel County).

“It’s pretty much offering a time for families to come and enjoy the holiday season,” event coordinator Lani Hoffman said. “We like to bring in other groups because we enjoy seeing what other groups can do and sharing that moment together.”
The event will also include refreshments following the performance and a wonderfully decorated Christmas theme that appeals to all the senses.
Hoffman said Wednesday evening that about 25 to 40 seats remained for the 5 p.m. show (doors open at 4:30), but she doubts there will be any spots remaining Saturday and encourages those interested to purchase tickets in advance by calling 443-996-9375.
In true holiday spirit, a portion of the proceeds will go to purchasing holiday dinners for two needy families selected by the Reisterstown . Maryland Sings also uses the fundraiser to provide scholarships for musically gifted students without the financial means to join the group.
