I-795 Crash: Wrong-Way Driver Dies, Three Hospitalized

A 2-year-old girl was among those injured when a car drove the wrong way on Interstate 795 early Tuesday, police said.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — Police said a woman died in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 795 that closed the road for about three hours Tuesday morning. Three others were hospitalized, officials reported.

Rodsheta Myers, 25, of Baltimore, was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.

She had been driving south in the northbound lanes of I-795 when she crashed before 3:15 a.m. near Owings Mills Boulevard, according to authorities.

Troopers got several calls about a 2016 Honda Accord going the wrong way on I-795 north in Owings Mills before 3:10 a.m., officials said.

Less than five minutes later, police said a two-vehicle crash was reported at Owings Mills Boulevard.

Investigators said Myers had been going the wrong way on I-795 north when she ran into a 2008 Toyota Highlander, driven by a 39-year-old man. He and his 2-year-old girl passenger were taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, officials said. A 37-year-old woman passenger was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment of her injuries, police reported.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is investigating the fatal crash, and a cause has not been determined.

I-795 north was closed until approximately 6:30 a.m., according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.
