When I was growing up my parents were no big fans of the Santa myth. They told us that they were our Santas and we were fine with it. We still woke up on Christmas morning with great anticipation and we were never disappointed. My own children actually believed in Santa, and since they believed we went along with it. We left cookies and milk by the fireplace on Christmas Eve and after they went to bed we ate the cookies. I have pictures of them sitting on Santa’s lap, and incidently the Santa was white and they didn’t care and I didn’t either. So it is with great amusement that I watch people take sides on the great Santa debate. People are really getting heated off the words of a Fox talking head. The reality is she expressed her opinion and in this country she has a right to do so. Her opinion is not the law of the land so why the heated debate? This is an adult discussion. Kids want toys on Christmas and if a white Santa brings them they will be happy, and if a black Santa brings them they will be happy. It does not matter. I thought the conversation was over after the Fox talking head issued her apology, but I saw this issue addressed on the Today Show and The View today so the conversation continues. What do you think about the Great Santa Debate?
