Jemicy Art Student Wins "People's Choice Award" in 2016 Young Artists Showcase

Sam Glick, Jemicy senior, is the winner of this year's People's Choice Award for his impressionistic image of an eye.

The PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD for the 2016 Young Artists Showcase has been awarded to Sam Glick, a senior at Jemicy Upper School, for his unique, impressionistic image of an eye done with colored pushpins on homasote. The announcement was made by the Timonium Optimist Club and Towson Arts Collective at the close of their 7th annual exhibit of student art from Baltimore area high schools earlier this month.

Visitors to the show, which ran at TAC’s Ellene “Brit” Christiansen Art Center in Towson from March 4–18, were asked to cast a ballot for their favorite painting, drawing or photograph. Sam’s received the most votes among the 83 entries that represented 29 city and county high schools, both public and independent. His prize is custom framing courtesy of Plaza Artist Materials and Picture Framing in Towson.

Sam is a student of Pauline Savage, a teacher in Jemicy’s art department. The Timonium Optimists and Towson Arts Collective plan to present another Young Artists Showcase in March 2017 to recognize and encourage other talented student artists.
