Macy's to Shutter at Owings Mills Mall

One of the anchors at the Owings Mills Mall will reportedly be closing its doors this fall.

Macy’s will close in mid-November and run clearance sales until then, according to The Baltimore Sun, which reports a Macy’s spokesperson described the sale as an “isolated real estate transaction” unrelated to a round of announced closures.

Macy’s disclosed plans to shutter up to 40 stores in 2016, culling its underperforming locations to focus on profitable ones.

The Owings Mills store closing appears to be tied to the redevelopment of the mall.

Kimco, which owns the mall, has reportedly been in discussions with the county as it comes up with what an executive said were “grandiose plans” for Owings Mills Mall, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.
