Man Charged in Reisterstown Shooting: Police
Police said the man was the victim's boyfriend.
Police said a Reisterstown man has been charged with attempted murder and other offenses in connection with the shooting Thursday of his 17-year-old girlfriend.
Linwood Omar Smith, 19, of the 100 block of Danbury Road, was fighting with his girlfriend over a gun in the basement when the gun went off, police said of the initial investigation.
At 4:25 p.m. on Thursday, first responders were called to the 100 block of Danbury Road for a reported shooting and found a woman shot in the head, according to the report from the Baltimore County Police Department.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were serious but not believed to be life-threatening, police said. On Friday, she remained in serious condition at the hospital, according to the report.
Initially, the victim told police that she was shot during a robbery in which her cell phone was stolen, according to the report, which stated that further investigation indicated she made up the story in attempt to protect her boyfriend.

Smith has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony/crime of violence.
Police said Friday that he was being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center, and the incident was still under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit.
