Metro Centre At Owings Mills Cancels St. Patrick's Celebration

Organizers canceled the Owings Mills festivities, citing the progression of the novel coronavirus.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — Metro Centre at Owings Mills canceled its St. Patrick's Day celebration. Organizers provided a week's notice, as the event had been slated for Saturday, March 21.

David S. Brown and Metro Centre delivered the news of the cancellation Friday, March 13, citing the new coronavirus in making its decision.

"Given the growing concern and recent developments on how COVID-19 is progressing nationally and now locally, David S. Brown and Metro Centre have made the decision to cancel our St. Patrick's Day Celebration scheduled for next Saturday, March 21," officials said.

County Executive Johnny Olszewski declared a state of emergency in Baltimore County Friday, the same day President Donald Trump declared a national emergency.

While they said they were "disappointed," organizers of the Metro Centre event reported "this decision was based out of concern for the health and well-being of our team, colleagues and anticipated guests."

David S. Brown Corporate Office signed the letter, concluding: "We look forward to hosting many more exciting events through the year, and we hope to see you there!"
