Community Corner

Northwest Neighbors Connecting-1year Anniversary Birthday Bash!

A little over a year ago, CHAI: Comprehensive Housing Assistance Inc.,

an agency of The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore,

officially launched a program, based upon the village concept that would

enable seniors to age with dignity in their own homes and their

communities. A grassroots membership organization, Northwest Neighbors

Connecting (NNC) provides a host of services to members, from grocery

shopping to running errands, social programs to educational training –

and even tech support.
Today, NNC boasts 150 dues-paying members – and

that number is growing weekly. To celebrate the program’s successes, NNC

will host a birthday bash at the Pikesville Senior Center, Sunday,

March 23, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. The public is invited to an afternoon of

activities, including dancing, music, a mini-Zumba class, a Kosher

birthday cake, donated by Sion’s Bakery, and a volunteer recognition

ceremony. In addition, Bea Bea Payne, an about-to-be 105-year-old woman,

who still drives and exercises daily, will share tips on aging well.

Those attending the event also can learn more about NNC – how to become a
member and how to volunteer. To learn more about the NNC birthday bash, email chaivolunteer@chaibaltimore.org or call 410-662-6620
