Nyquist Settles In at Pimlico Before Preakness

The 3-year-old Kentucky Derby winner posed for the camera upon arriving at BWI Airport in Baltimore.

BALTIMORE, MD – A champion is among us. Nyquist, the winner of the Kentucky Derby, planted his hooves on Maryland soil this week.

The Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI) shared a photo of the Thoroughbred after his plane landed Monday in Maryland.

Arriving in Baltimore after 4 p.m. from Louisville, Ky., Nyquist traveled with police escort to Pimlico Race Course, according to the L.A. Times.

Now, he will train with an eye on the second jewel in the Triple Crown.

Trainer Jack Sisterson said that Nyquist would not be working too hard leading up to the race so he is fresh when post time comes, according to the L.A. Times.

The Preakness Stakes will be at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at Pimlico Race Course, 5201 Park Heights Avenue.
